Practical Care That Works:

What to expect on your first visit….

When it comes to your care we do everything possible to insure your comfort and reduce your pain. We use state of the art diagnostic procedures to quickly and accurately assess your condition. Our friendly staff will make every effort to address your questions and concerns. We will take all the time necessary to explain our findings and your options for treatment.

The first step is the consultation. Here, a history of your condition is recorded and evaluated. After this, we will proceed with the examination or, in some cases, the appropriate referral.

Your examination will be as thorough as your problem warrants. Tests may include orthopedic, neurological, muscle strength, range of motion, and motion palpation of the affected spinal region. In fact, anything that will aid in your timely recovery will be considered.

If necessary, radiographs (X-Rays) will be taken to further evaluate your condition. An x-ray is a life size representation of you. This allows us to see various pathologies such as joint disease as well as fractures. And, after these are eliminated, we also evaluate various structural changes related to your condition or injury. At Millennium Chiropractic and Rehab we also use video fluoroscopic imaging known as “DMX” (Dynamic Motion X-ray) to view your spine in motion. This allows us to better identify and treat the injured area. For further information on DMX diagnostic technology, go to www.nwadmx.com .

TREATMENT AND REHABILITATION:

Once you’ve been evaluated, we will begin the process of treatment and rehabilitation. Initially our goal is to decrease your discomfort. This can be accomplished through various therapeutic options. Electrical stimulation is a low volt current used to combat pain and inflammation. Therapeutic ultrasound utilizes pulsating waves to gently alleviate pain and swelling. These therapies used in addition to ice or heat very gently reduce your symptoms. When appropriate, spinal adjustments will be utilized to restore the proper motion to the affected joint segments.

Rehabilitation is a very important part of most patient’s recovery. Once your symptoms have decreased and normal joint motion is restored, it is crucial to strengthen the affected region. We will customize a program that best fits your needs and train you on the proper performance of the exercises. This will enable you to recover in the most efficient way. Once you have been trained, in most cases your rehabilitative exercises can be performed at home.
